Apple has published the tvOS 27 release notes nearly two weeks after the update reached Apple TV users. MacRumors reported the timing on September 25, noting that Apple TV does not display software release notes in Settings and that Apple instead updates a support document.
The notes make one household control easier to identify: individual app controls in Settings can block people from launching selected apps. Apple’s description does not specify a new parental-control system or explain whether the controls can be managed remotely. The confirmed point is narrower: users can block launches for particular apps on the device.
Two accessibility additions are also spelled out. Transcribed audio is intended to help people follow content when standard captions or subtitles are not provided. Dynamic Text lets users set a preferred text size across supported apps. Apple does not say that every app supports the setting, so availability will depend on the apps people use.
Apple Music gains Hi-Res Lossless audio support and AutoMix. The latter transitions between songs by matching beats and adjusting timing, according to Apple’s notes. Those descriptions identify the features, but they do not promise that every track or listening setup will produce the same result.
The redesigned Podcasts app can show video podcasts on a television. AirPlay is also listed as faster and more responsive when people share photos, video or music from an iPhone, iPad or Mac. Apple’s wording describes an improvement to connections; it does not provide a measured speed increase.
The update includes bug fixes and security updates for Apple TV 4K, but the release-note entry does not name individual vulnerabilities or explain which bugs were fixed. That distinction matters: the official document confirms maintenance work without providing a security bulletin or a detailed fix list.
MacRumors says tvOS 27 works with Apple TV 4K models from the second generation onward. The software itself was released on September 14, so the September 25 support-page update is a fuller explanation of an existing release, not a second tvOS launch. Apple’s notes now give owners a clearer account of what changed and where the limits remain—especially the phrase “supported apps” for Dynamic Text and the absence of named security fixes.
