Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Unveiled July 22 With New Flex Titanium Design

Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup on July 22 at its Unpacked event in London. The company is introducing three foldable models: the standard Z Fold 8, the Z Fold 8 Ultra, and a new Z Fold 8 Wide variant designed to address longstanding complaints about the inner screen’s proportions.

The event starts at 2 p.m. BST (9 a.m. ET) and will be livestreamed on YouTube. Pre-orders open immediately on July 22, with retail availability expected around August 7.

Flex Titanium and Durability Upgrades

Samsung is introducing Flex Titanium, a new material that integrates titanium components directly into the display panel structure. This technology aims to improve durability and reduce the stress on the foldable screen mechanism that has plagued earlier models.

The new design also brings a larger 5,000 mAh battery—up from 4,400 mAh in the Z Fold 7—and 45W wired charging. These improvements address two of the biggest complaints from foldable phone users: battery life and charging speed.

Camera and Performance Details

The Z Fold 8 Ultra steps up with a dedicated telephoto lens and a 200MP main camera, compared to a standard dual rear setup on the base model. All devices will run the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with 16GB of RAM.

The Z Fold 8 Ultra pricing leaks suggest a starting price between $1,999 and $2,099 for the 256GB model, with higher storage configurations costing more. Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed pricing yet.

What Matters for Buyers

The wider aspect ratio of the new Z Fold 8 Wide addresses a key usability issue: the inner screen on previous models felt too tall and narrow. A wider fold should make everyday tasks like web browsing and multitasking more comfortable.

Battery improvements and faster charging are equally significant. Anyone considering a foldable phone has wrestled with the question of whether the form factor is worth the compromises. Better battery and charging make that calculation easier.

The July 22 reveal will show whether Samsung has finally cracked the durability and usability issues that have kept foldables a niche product.
