iQOO has confirmed that its upcoming iQOO 16 will use a 2K 165Hz display developed with Samsung Display. The announcement was made at a joint display technology event on September 14, giving the gaming-focused phone a verified screen feature ahead of its expected September launch.
According to reporting from Xinhua and IT Home, the panel uses Samsung Display’s M16 emitting material and the 2K LEAD 2.0 technology solution. iQOO and Samsung Display described the work as a joint effort that began at the technology-definition stage rather than as a standard panel supply arrangement.
The 165Hz refresh rate is the headline specification. A higher refresh rate can make supported animations and games look smoother, but the phone, game and software must all support the mode. It can also use more power than a lower refresh setting, so the real benefit will depend on how iQOO manages performance and battery life.
Samsung Display’s cooperation with iQOO includes a customized high-refresh driver integrated with the panel project. The two companies also pointed to an iQOO-dedicated flagship production line. Those details show that the announcement is about the display pipeline as well as the specification visible on the phone’s product sheet.
The panel is built for a flagship Android device and targets users who care about motion clarity, gaming response and high-resolution viewing. A 2K panel gives the screen more pixels than a typical Full HD display, while 165Hz gives compatible content more opportunities to refresh during movement.
Samsung Display said the panel will debut on the iQOO 16, according to Korea Times reporting.
