Nicolas Cage and Michael Sheen will headline C.L.A.Y., a psychological cyber-thriller written and directed by Simon Afram, according to Deadline and Cinema Express. Jordi Mollà, Emilio Sakraya and Adrian Topol are also in the cast. Neither report names the characters they will play.

The film marks Afram’s feature directing debut. Deadline says he is also producing. Cinema Express names Edward Kahl, Reza Roohi and Topol among the producers.

C.L.A.Y. expands to “Clowns Laughing At You.” Its story follows a computer prodigy drawn into an underground hacker collective. The group’s online provocations have real-world consequences. Intelligence agencies, criminal syndicates and rival hackers take notice as its profile grows.

The synopsis describes the lead as a “brilliant but socially invisible” computer prodigy who finds purpose and belonging in the group. It frames the film as a story about community and online identity, but does not name the protagonist or say whether Cage, Sheen or another cast member will play that role.

Afram described the film as exploring identity, belonging and the power digital life can have over people. That statement offers a thematic description, not a scene-by-scene plot. The sources do not establish that the hacker group is based on a real organization or incident.

The project also reconnects some performers associated with Fortitude, a separate World War II espionage feature written and produced by Afram. Simon West is directing Fortitude, according to Deadline. The sources do not say that the films share characters or a story universe.

Filming is expected to begin in London in November 2026, Deadline reports. The current reports give no release date or distributor. They also leave character roles and the rest of the production schedule unannounced.

Deadline identifies Clay Pictures Ltd. as the production company. Neither outlet reports a budget, streaming platform or theatrical plan. Without those details, it would be premature to infer when audiences might see the film or how it will be released.

For now, the firmest picture is a cast list, a central premise and a planned shoot location. Cage and Sheen lead a story about a fictional hacker collective, not a real cyberattack documented by the sources. Future announcements will be needed to clarify how the ensemble fits into the story.

The available reports do not identify specific hacking tools, agency names, criminal groups or incidents drawn from real cases. Those details should not be inferred from the genre label alone. Further casting and production updates would provide a more complete view of the project.
