HONG KONG and SHANGHAI and FLORHAM PARK, N.J., July 02, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — HUTCHMED (China) Limited (\u201cHUTCHMED<\/a>\u201d) (Nasdaq\/AIM:HCM; HKEX:13) today announces that the New Drug Application (NDA) for ORPATHYS\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0(savolitinib)\u00a0has been granted conditional approval by the China National Medical Products Administration (\u201cNMPA\u201d) for the treatment of\u00a0locally advanced or metastatic gastric cancer or gastroesophageal junction (GC\/GEJ) adenocarcinoma patients with\u00a0MET\u00a0amplification who have failed at least two prior systemic treatments.<\/p>\n Gastric cancer remains\u00a0one of the most common cancers and leading causes of cancer death in\u00a0China. MET-driven gastric cancer has a very poor prognosis.1<\/sup> It is estimated that\u00a0MET\u00a0amplification accounts for approximately 4-6% of gastric cancer patients.2<\/sup>,<\/em><\/sup>3<\/sup>\u00a0The annual incidence of\u00a0MET\u00a0amplification gastric cancer is estimated to be approximately 18,000 in China.4<\/sup><\/p>\n The approval is supported by data from\u00a0the pivotal Phase II registration study of ORPATHYS\u00ae<\/sup> in gastric cancer or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma patients with MET amplification in China (NCT04923932<\/a>). The results were recently published in Nature Medicine<\/em><\/a> and highlighted at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting<\/a>. The study met its primary endpoint of objective response rate (\u201cORR\u201d) per RECIST 1.1, as assessed by the Independent Review Committee (\u201cIRC\u201d). As of the data cut-off of October\u00a08, 2025, the IRC-assessed ORR was 32.3% (95%CI: 21.2%, 45.1%), exceeding the pre-specified efficacy threshold.
