Menlo Park, CA, June 05, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The nation\u2019s first-of-its-kind Center for Sainthood Studies\u00a0\u2014 aimed at providing a roadmap for the challenging journey of advancing candidates for\u00a0canonization and increasing American odds for such honor \u2014 is being established at St. Patrick\u2019s\u00a0Seminary & University in Menlo Park, California.<\/p>\n
San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone signed off on the groundbreaking\u00a0initiative in an April 14th decree, which described a key goal as \u201cfostering a deeper understanding\u00a0of the processes involved in recognizing the holiness of individuals and their potential for sainthood.\u201d<\/p>\n
The inaugural course, open to interested clergy, religious and laity, will be held Feb. 16-21, 2026,\u00a0at the scenic Vallombrosa Retreat Center in Menlo Park.\u00a0Participants will earn an official certificate at the completion of the intensive program,\u00a0designed by Dr. Emanuele Spedicato and Dr. Waldery Hilgeman, two esteemed postulators and\u00a0canon law experts from Rome with extensive experience in presenting cases for sainthood.<\/p>\n
